Wolfie’s startup DiverCity expands to Vienna

Only three months ago, Wolfgang Bergthaler – known by the pseudonym “The Wolf” to the readers of my India-book – has launched his startup DiverCity in Graz, the beautiful capital of Styria. DiverCity is somehow the Airbnb of food: Hosts can invite other people for dinner, in exchange they either receive money from their guests, or they are invited by their guests for a second dinner. The target group are migrants who should cook the traditional meals of their home countries. With this concept, the Wolf plans to pull down the walls which exist between different cultures.

Since feedback has been really positive for the project in Graz, the Wolf now plans to expand the DiverCity-community to Vienna. There should be a launch event in the beginning of February, and the official start of the platform in Vienna is scheduled for the end of February.

I hope this works out. In times where right wing parties are destroying all the tolerance that Europe stood for in the past decades, having dinner quite likely won’t change Austrian policy-making – but it can change how people think of each other.

In case you want to join DiverCity as a host, you can read everything about the concept under this link and find out how it works under this link.
