Can we describe the city route 9, which leads through the Prater, as “Trail”? Who is still not himself gone this route, rolls his eyes and says to know the answer to this question: of course not – because after there just 65 meters are back, the action more closely resembles a walk than a hike. Who but even went the distance, knows: you have a nice time there anyway – and away from the main Avenue, the entire experience even a little like real nature feels.
Ad arrival/length/equipment: Optimally ideal after a hard day’s work the city route 9 for a release through the brain – which is due to the good accessibility, especially as the line at the railway station Praterstern begins and ends. To bear in mind there is however, that the city of Vienna is a duration of from three to four hours for this 13-kilometre hike – I took while only two and a half hours, walked in but quite quickly; Anyway, I had to return a part of the track in the dark. The way away from the main avenue are mostly not lit. It is therefore advisable to carry own light (flashlight or at least a fully charged cell phone) to light the way, if you want to travel the route after-work for this hike. However, the good news is that the level line with their sometimes – but not always – asphalted paths also in Office outfit, so with suit shoes, can be completed.
The highlight of this hike is the realization that there are some undiscovered gems and secluded corners also in Vienna’s Prater. Wildlife there are hardly any (except mosquitoes), it can be seen some bizarre copy of Homo Wieneriensis – around, when one is suddenly overtaken on the beaten-down paths by a horde of Segway driver.
Route description: lead the first few metres still along the main Avenue, so it is coming soon on a somewhat less frequented route, which leads to a sports club and then ends at the summerhouse at the end of the main Avenue (see 360 degree photo below). Then the adventure begins but actually only really: through a small hole in the Green thicket, the brave Wanderer enters a lonely way, where besides him not a soul finds himself – for but hordes of mosquitoes. For after work Walker, this is also the time at which the darkness spreads out; shortly after, the solitary adventure reaches a small church, which emits an eerie mystique and is expected to be completely unknown the most Viennese (see photo) above the slideshow. After crossing the main Avenue, and is waiting for the next piece of wilderness, again it goes alongside the water up to a boat rental. At this point again crosses the main Avenue, exceeds the Lilliput train tracks and ends up back in the Woods – who goes after work, already mired by complete darkness and is likely to lead to some very disoriented. Finally, when the amusement park rises suddenly out of the darkness comes redemption. From here it passes’s Prater sauna and the Swiss Garden… If you were wondering, this hike, what are the ways to stop, then you have your answer: it’s the fucking Prater, Sylvester. A is the primary benefit of this area.
Conclusion: Although it is comparable to the difficulty of the level trail 9 not with other walks, he offers himself as wonderful after work everyday adventure, after ten hours in the Office Chair time properly to aerate the intervertebral discs. If less is athletic, can whistle on the movement and directly take the shortcut in the Schweizerhaus.
